English Champion Ellis in revamped Boys Squad

English Champion Harry Ellis and Under 16 Champion Jake Storey have been included in an 11-strong England Boys training squad for 2012 and 2013.

The squad also includes Bobby Keeble, runner-up the Under 18 Championship, and Jack Hermeston, the 2011 Under 16 Champion.

The complete boys squad is: Robert Burlison (Oxley Park, Staffordshire), Harry Ellis (Meon Valley, Hampshire, IoW & CI), Jack Hermeston (City of Newcastle, Northumberland), Bobby Keeble (Abridge, Essex), Cameron Massey (Chorlton cum Hardy, Cheshire), Bradley Moore (Kedleston Park, Derbyshire), Marco Penge (Worthing, Sussex), Jack Singh-Brar (Brokenhurst Manor, Hampshire, IoW & CI), Jake Storey (Alnmouth, Northumberland), Ashton Turner (Kenwick Park, Lincolnshire), and Nick Ward (Brocket Hall, Hertfordshire).

Ellis 17 (image copyright Tom Ward), became the youngest English Champion when he won the title at Silloth-on-Solway in early August when still 16 years old. An under 16 cap, he made his full England debut in the recent Home Internationals, while he also represented GB&I against Europe in the Jacques Leglise Trophy and was a member of www.izsak.hu the victorious team in the Canadian International Junior Challenge.

Storey, 16, won the English Under 16 Championship for the www.blueandgraybrewingco.com McGregor Trophy at Trevose in Cornwall and has since become an under 16 international, making his debut in the recent match with Scotland.

Keeble, 17, lost a playoff for the English Under 18 Championship for the Carris Trophy which brought an England debut in the Boys Home Internationals. He followed that with second place in the South of England Boys Championship.

Hermeston won the English Under 16 Championship at South Moor in County Durham in 2011 when he also finished runner-up in the Scottish Under 16 Championship and third in the English Schools Championship. He was capped at Under 16 level and recently he finished runner-up in the Italian under 16 Championship and third in the North of England Under 16 Championship.

Burlison, 17, is an under 16 cap who stepped up to a boy international this year. Runner-up in the South of England Boys Championship for the past two years, he was a member of last year’s England Boy Squad and tied seventh in the Junior County Champions Tournament this year.

Penge, 14, made his debut as an England under 16 international recently against Spain and also played in the winning teams against Wales and Scotland. The Sussex lad also won the Hazards Salver for the best performance by a player aged under 16 at the Carris Trophy.

Singh Brar, 15, has been capped at under 16 and boys levels in the past two years. He was the 2011 recipient of the Hazards Salver and a joint winner of the Junior County Champions Tournament.
